About Us
The World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit charitable foundation organized and committed to enhancing the surgical health care capacity in the Philippines. WSFP’s mission is to eliminate barriers hindering Filipino indigent patients to access quality, sustainable, and equitable surgical healthcare.
Brief History
For the past 20 years, the World Surgical Foundation (WSF, based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) led by its American-Filipino founder, Dr. Domingo T. Alvear, had been conducting annual surgical outreach activities in the Philippines until its pioneer local medical outreach volunteers decided to organize themselves.

Having been inspired by Dr. Alvear and his group’s mission, the pioneer medical outreach volunteers in the Philippines headed by Dr. Marcus Lester R. Suntay, together with co-founders Eliseo Jojo L. Prisno, Candy Emnas-Prisno, and Arlene C. Keh, incorporated the World Surgical Foundation Philippines on June 30, 2017, as a distinct and independent foundation from WSF. Indeed, the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Inc. has been living up to its vision, continuously providing quality medical and surgical services to the Filipino needy.
Our Vision
Quality surgical healthcare for
marginalized communities
Our Mission
In collaboration with the partners and advocates of WSFP, provide accessible, quality, and sustainable healthcare to marginalized communities.
Core Values
The Core Values of WSFP are encapsulated in the motto: Care. Cure. Collaborate.

-
Care. We lead with empathy—identifying unmet surgical needs, prioritizing underserved areas, and designing programs that go beyond numbers to deliver meaningful, life-changing impact. Every project is executed with safety, compassion, and purpose at its core.

-
Cure. We deliver high-quality surgical care through specialized teams with proven expertise, and using state-of-the-art machines and equipment, ensuring every patient lined up is treated — because commitment to healing means seeing every case through.

-
Collaborate. We believe impact is multiplied through partnership. At the heart of our work is forging strong collaboration between the national government, local governments, and WSFP—alongside private sector and communities—to make accessible surgical care a shared and sustainable reality.
Care. Cure. Collaborate.
