National Surgical and Anesthesia Human Health Resource Study of 2020

The World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), in partnership with the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS), conducted the 2020 National Surgical and Anesthesia Human Health Resource Study to assess the distribution and availability of surgical and anesthesia professionals across the Philippines. The study highlights significant regional disparities, with specialists concentrated in urban areas, particularly in Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR), as well as gaps in training opportunities and healthcare infrastructure in underserved areas.

The findings emphasize the need for better workforce planning and distribution to support equitable access to surgical and anesthesia services nationwide.
