On September 1-2, 2022, the World Surgical Foundation Philippines and the Rotary Club of Makati Central, in partnership with the Sorsogon Provincial Government and Unilab Foundation, helped over 170 adult and pediatric patients from the province of Sorsogon get their needed major and minor surgeries.
The biggest and most successful surgical outreach activity organized by WSFP, the Sorsogon mission involved a team that performed a total of 247 surgical and pathological procedures during the 2-day outreach activity.
The Sorsogon Provincial Government, led by Governor Edwin Hamor, has been providing excellent medical assistance programs to their constituents. However, one of the pressing needs identified by the Provincial Health Unit is the lack of subspecialty surgical services in the area, particularly pediatric and ENT. Thus, through this partnership, the team was able to perform a total of 14 pediatric surgeries and 15 ENT surgeries, as well as 52 general surgeries.
--- The surgical outreach activity was made possible in partnership with the Rotary Foundation and Rotary Club of Makati Central, Unilab Foundation, Sorsogon Province, Provincial Health Unit of Sorsogon, Philippine College of Surgeons Surgery for the Underserved Regions and for Education Commission ( PCS - SURE) , Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc. (PSA) , Philippine Society of Pediatric Surgeons (PSPS), Operating room Nurses Association of the Philippines, Inc - ORNAP, Ansell, Sanosil Philippines Inc and Mabuhay Padala Center.
